I am going to be an aunt again...

Not a true sibling... :) My best friend, Mary Kate, has finally announced that she is pregnant. I AM SO EXCITED. I have this feeling it is going to be a little girl. She is thinking a little boy. I am just tickled to death! Look at this sweet baby!

The newest of my little friends

My friend Rachel had a sweet baby girl on Tuesday night. I could just hold her all day long! Cracks me up that she has brown hair like her Dad, unlike Will with blonde like his Mom. Will and Wren, I just love these two and of course their moma!

Tips for the soon to be Mom...

Yes I know I am not a Mom yet so you are thinking why take tips from you.... Most of my patients the past 3 years have all been new moms. So with that being said a lot of people always have A LOT of question... what to expect, what to bring, what to wear... so now that I see all sides, The labor and delivery and the post-partum part of the hospital i can share with you want you need. I took care of a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago and everything she had she would ask...is this ok that i brought this... So thought i would share it with all of you!

You can wear normal clothes in but you will change into a hospital gown first thing. (No undies or bra on with the gown..just in case you were wondering)You can bring a couple of pair of PJ's. At the least you will stay one night. You can only put the PJs on after you have the baby. Also a robe if you want to walk in the hall and not be waking in your PJ's. Be sure and bring an outfit for you to wear home. For the baby... they can wear whatever you want them to wear even in the nursery. I mean maybe not some fancy dress but a monogrammed onesie that you have would be just fine. And of course whatever outfit you want them to go home in :) Also, most hospitals take pictures of you baby for their website...they can wear whatever in this photo too. SIDE NOTE: one day when i have a baby i am going to go get some of those huge grannie undies to wear too...trust me.. you don't want to wear the ones you wear before the baby and well the hospital ones are ok...but this is just what i would do.

Of course... tooth brush, toothpaste, shampoo and all that good stuff. The hospital will have some but it is not good at all. toothpaste taste awful and the body wash is for all over body including hair.

If you love your own pillow then bring it... it will help you sleep good. If you like certain blankets then you can bring that too.. Just remember the more you bring the more you will be leaving with plus the things people bring you. As for your hubbie or whoever will be staying with you...bring some sleeping pills for them b/c the fold out beds are NOT comfy. I am sure The Man will either be in the bed with me or bring a blow up mattress and possibly be told we can't have it... some people are strict about this kind of stuff.

Do NOT bring food or snacks for you because you can't eat until after the baby is born. Only ice chips...which St. Michael's has the best ice i must say...just like sonic! If your guests need a snack there are vending machines, but that is just not nice to have all these snacks in the room and you can't have any of it... for possibly 24 hours.

If breastfeeding.... a boppy is great to help hold the baby while feeding. Also if you have had a c-section it helps not hurt your belly as much when holding the baby. The little breastfeeding tanks and bras will come in hand too.

If you have a doorhanger...wreath...or whatever go ahead and bring it so as soon as that baby is born you can share it with the world!

Camera of course... some people bring their computer so they can post pictures for everyone ASAP. Also during the delivery expect only 1 or 2 people in the room with you for the delivery. Yes i know that is hard. I personally want The Man, my sister, my mom and The man's mom...BUT... if something where to go wrong they would just be in the way and worried about me and the baby and cause more stress in the room. Your Dr might tell you different but really it is mostly up to the nurse that is taking care of you or the hospital rules.

If you plan on getting an epidural most places everyone has to leave the room. This makes people crazy...but just not it ahead of time. You nurse will be right by your side. The worst part of a delivery, IF HAVE YOU CHOOSE TO HAVE AN EPIDURAL, is the IV start and the little shots in your back to numb you to inter the epidural. If no epidural the cramping and pressure if said to be the worst part, I obviously haven't been in either situation.

Hope this helps all you soon to be Moms out there. It will be a day you never forget. What an amazing job I have to experience a life being born most days i work!

One last thing...If you are coming in to be induced. This is a LONG process... just want you all to know that it doesn't mean a baby will be with you in 2 or 3 hours...it could be 24 or more... but not worries you aren't like pushing for 24 hours but just laboring!!!

My little friends...

This week I got to see most of my little friends, all but my main man Hollis!

This past weekend we went to Dallas for Mothers day weekend with the Mans family! We had such a wonderful time as always but it was extra fun bc of this sweet little one, Ainsley!

She makes my heart melt! She is the only baby girl of all my family and close friends. The rest are boys! She and her family are coming intown in a week! I can't wait!

On Sunday we got a call that The Man and my god son wanted to visit me on mothers day! I had to work Sunday night so we planned dinner for Wednesday. This sweet one got me a bracelet for mothers day! So thoughtful! Something I will keep forever!

Then Thursday I got to keep my very best little friend while his mom got her hair cut! Really I think this little fella thinks we are friends not me and his mom! Every now and then he would say "ere moma go"? but didn't get upset ever! He was too busy playing with "Ninni's babies" this is what he calls my dogs!

Loving on miller!

Giving Lottie kisses

Trying to ride Miller

" I pick flower for moma." it was so cute I couldn't dare tell him no that those are Ninni's flowers that I worked so hard planting and keeping alive!

Miller, Lottie & Will. Best. Friends.

Picking Ninni a flower....again couldn't say no!

Then picking Lottie a flower

"Lottie you a flower"

I knew he was soo tired but didn't want to go inside for a nap. Instead went into The Mans (or as Will calls him "Alor") shed and wanted to ride this ride...aka the lawn mower! He thought it was so fun just to sit on it!

More kisses from Lottie!

And sweet hugs that might be a little tight! But my babies and Will had such a fun time and I know they were tired little guys! Will did not want to leave Ninni's house when his mom came to get him!

Thanks Rach for letting Will come play! We had such a good time!

I love all these little ones! And so excited to be in their life and see them all grow up to be such sweet kids!

Maternity Concierge

I think this would be the best job ever. When Bravos show Pregnant in Heels came out one of my friends said to me "that is going to be your new favorite show..huh?" Of course. I love it! I am not all about watching TV all the time..but again working nights sometimes gets your schedule messed up so i love watching everything on my DVR and this is one i always look forward to. Those of you who haven't seen this yet....basically it is this lady in New York, that also has a maternity clothing store, she get calls from mom's to be and helps them with certain things. The past episodes that comes to my mind is Rosie (the Maternity Concierge) helping plan a wedding for a new mom to be like 4 weeks before the baby was due; help baby proof new soon to be parents home and make a nursery; a baby shower/fashion show; religious issues... what ever you can think of people ask her to help with it.

No I do not have children, but with my job a lot of the things she talks with the mom about I already know. I just wonder how it would feel being a new mom and not having the knowledge that i have. You would feel so lost i think. Well that is were a maternity concierge comes in. Too bad my little town might not be in the need of maternity concierge. I have already told The Man i should go live in New York with my brother in law and be a Baby Nurse. Basically i would stay/live with a family that had a newborn and take care of the new baby and teach mom for A LOT of $$$$..... then i decided i would like to have a life of my own and not always be taking care of someone elses family. Maybe I can just go stay in New York for few months and work for Rosie and learn everything i need to know about being a Maternity Concierge and start my own business. :)

What a wonderful world it would be! If anyone needs their own Maternity Concierge...you know where to find me!

babies on the brain...

one of my very dear friends is pregnant. She was keeping it to herself for a long time... I went like a month or so without seeing her and at first glance i looked at her and thought..hmm, am i missing something... we talked for alittle bit and then she casually said i am pregnant again. I said i knew it....she surprisingly asked how... i just told her i could tell...which then offended her! oops! She didn't tell anyone else for the longest time. But now the cat is out of the bag. I am sooo excited! What a huge secret i had to keep!

I am not sure if it is because Rach is pregnant, or that one of my work friends just came back from maternity leave, or that someone asks me when i am going to have children probably 1-2 times a day or that a girl from work is about to go on maternity leave, or the fact that what i do for a living is take care of the new moms and help them with their baby, but...i think about babies all the time. Yes i am ready for a baby but not READY READY. The Sweet Man is ready if it was for sure a boy but he says he just isn't sure what to do with a girl (this is probably what every guy thinks).

The Sweet Man and I are on the go constantly and we love it. We would have to slow down our life for sure. I think about all the risks and complications that could happen. But the part that is crazy to me is I dream about babies, having a baby, breastfeeding, being pregnant with this huge belly all the time. The other night i had a dream that i was pregnant and was still taking my birth control and it caused me to miscarry and i was so upset. When i woke up i couldn't get it out of my mind. I kept thinking should i take my first pregnancy test, just bc i was dreaming these crazy dreams. I told my friends at work and they asked if i took a pregnancy test and i of course said no. It did cross my mind but i decided not to obsess over it. Then my last night at work i went to pedi to go say hi to one of my favorite patients that get hospitalized about everyone month or every other month. We were all asking him our names. He was pretending like he didn't know our names, which we know he does. He then pointed at me and said "you have the baby in your belly." I think i was speechless. Like i said above one of the nurses did just have a baby and he might think that i was her but it still kind of freaked me out.

Just for you to know...i said i was ready but not ready ready. But if i were to be pregnant i would be ECSTATIC!!!! I pray for my little one everyday. I pray he or she will be healthy, i pray that we will be able to provide for our children (this is The Sweet Man's big fear, which i tell him that is probably every man's fear and if we wait until we are 100% financially ready then we will never have kids.) I pray that The Sweet Man will be just as ready as me. I feel this is a big one. I know most women get ready for children before the guy. This might be where we are right now. But then that means the girl/me needs to be patient b/c i think it is huge deal for the guy to be ready and want the baby just as much as you do. With me this is huge. As much as i want to be a stay at home mommy i love my job and i enjoy living on two incomes. I watched my mom "ask" my dad for money all my life and also when she was going to buy big purchases she would have to talk to him about it. I do think that is still important to talk to the sig other before big purchases, but with that being said if i want it really bad and i have the money then i don't think it is bad to get it. And I think The Sweet Man is the same way...good example the Jeep Wrangler he came home with a couple of months ago. haha. I also only work 3 nights a week and my sweet mother is going to take care of my kids during the day. But why it is important having the sweet man 100% on board is b/c he will be these with the baby for 3 nights all on his own. He won't be able to wake me up saying the baby is awake, baby needs a diaper change, baby needs to be fed, baby has a fever and needs meds....that will be all him. Which is a huge deal. I am not saying that every dad isn't like this but , Most let the mom do everything and the dad will be the one that plays with the kid and has fun. Mom's don't always get to have fun. Sorry i just going on and on... but this is what is on my mind obviously!
